Iceland, June 2014, Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) trip.
"Home-hosted" dinner for my half of the group. Akureyri.
This is the heating setup in the home in Iceland where my half of the group had dinner. It is in the garage. Note the garage floor is tiled. This is the under floor heating that they use in Iceland that is supplied via geothermal systems widely available in Iceland. Their garage floor and driveway is heated too! Richard Trethewey, from “This Old House”, would love this. This would never go in the U.S. Too complicated and involved for the average American. Sadly, would have to be way dumbed down and made kid-proof. The family had a number of kids and the two smallest ones were quite rambunctious and the garage is totally accessible to them. Kids would use this as a plaything here in the U.S. In Iceland, no problem. (as it should be)
